guess I should explain myself

As this being my first blog ever, I guess I should get some things out of the way. Hi! I'm Ellie and I am a junior at Purdue University...and I am a travel fiend. In 36 short hours, I am leaving to study for 5 weeks just outside of Venice (that's in italy for all you people living under a rock). It is currently 1 am, I don't have anything officially packed, my room is a wreck, I need a shower, and I still am not sure how to work my stupid temporary international phone. All I get is roaming this, call abroad that, and lots of euros....fun stuff. So the name of my blog, for all of you people in my boat, means "I can't speak Italian." I plan on using this phrase alot, as alas, I do not speak Italian. I dutifully bought an Italy guidebook, as well as a phrase book and dictionary, which have sat neglected under my textbooks while I slaved away through finals week. So I am no closer to learning Italian as when I ordered the books off Amazon 6 weeks ago. They do say that once you're immersed in the language it is easier to learn, so I'm going with that. Luckily, I know Spanish and Portuguese fairly well, and I am planning on going to Barcelona one long weekend and Lisbon another :)

But anyways, to explain about what I will actually be doing with my life. The program I am doing is called CIMBA, and the campus is situated in a little mountain town called Paderno del Grappo. I am actually an RA while I'm there, so I will be a go to person in case of emergencies, planning day trips, room checks, etc. Anything an RA would do over here basically. We have classes M-F, except on travel weekends when we have no school on Fridays. We have two long weekends, and I plan on going to Barcelona and Lisbon as I mentioned earlier. I finish the program on June 9th, then I'm hopping on over to Germany to see my big sis Carissa and her man Austin!

I just wanted to give everyone an overview of what will be going on in my life...Now I must do something about packing, my personal hygiene, my stupid phone, and.....oh yeah, my boarding passes. Yikes. Time for this girl to get serious...Bye!

(this will be my view from my dorm room!)

  1. Welcome to blogging, sis! I will be an avid follower, as I cannot believe that just four days after my four month travel adventure, you are leaving for your own. I guess the apple doesn't fall far....NOW, you must be faithful about blogging or we will all worry incessantly about your safety and wellbeing :) Just sayin...I love you, and look forward to hearing all about this adventure of yours. xoxo, your momma
